Ohio State may have suffered a disappointing loss to Oregon, but the sky shouldn’t fall in Columbus just yet. The Buckeyes are still among the betting favorites to win the 2021-22 national title.
SEC powers Alabama and Georgia remain the lead dogs, but Ohio State and Clemson are currently tied as third seed to lift the trophy.
Here are the latest future odds, per SI Sportsbook:
Ohio State (+700)
Texas A&M (+4000)
State of Pennsylvania (+5000)
Now the Buckeyes still have a lot of work to do before they even think about playing at Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday night in January. But you must be feeling a little optimistic seeing these chances after the state of Ohio just got slashed by Oregon.
Speaking of the Ducks, 20/1 seems like a pretty decent price for a team that just arrived in the Horseshoe, went wild on offense, survived defensively without Kayvon thibodeaux Where Justin flowe, and has a fairly favorable schedule in the Pac-12. I mean, they wouldn’t even have to play against USC (which was just blown out and sacked its head coach) until the league title game.
But to go back… if you think Ohio State is going to bounce back and eventually shift into high gear, then sprinkle some cheese on the Buckeyes at 7/1.
