Special Education Resource Grant Non-Profit Partner

PHOENIX (KVOA) – The Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (ADDPC) awarded a grant to the Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL) to create and implement a Special Education Advocacy Project (SEAP), have they announced Tuesday in a press release. The project will aim to improve access to appropriate special education services for Arizona students with developmental disabilities (DD) with a particular focus on students with DD who have been affected by the placement systems. in Arizona foster care or juvenile justice, he said. SEAP will provide training on knowing your rights to students and their caregivers, enabling them to effectively self-represent within the special education system.

The project will also provide individualized advocacy services, such as telephone consultations, attendance at Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plan meetings and mediations, as well as assistance with dispute resolution in matters of special education. Finally, SEAP will develop and publish educational material and resources relating to the special education system.
