City and County Public Health District Offers Diabetes Education Classes

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi – Nueces County Public Health District and the Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) are offering FREE diabetes self-management classes twice a month. Classes are held at the Health District, 1702 Horne Road, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Attendees must pre-register by calling CBHEC at 361-561-8584.

Participants must have a diagnosis of pre-diabetes or diabetes to participate. Face-to-face or online courses are available during the day and evening.

Class topics include:

  • Overview of Diabetes
  • Balanced diet
  • Nutrition
  • Physical activity
  • Medications
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • foot care
  • Mental Health
  • Goal setting

Classes also include FREE:

  • Wellness sessions
  • Blood glucose meters
  • Glucose strips
  • Lunch (healthy options)
