Miss Gant and the Old Dorseyville School
In the afternoon, whenever we would get home, we had a lot of chores to
do, such as get the yard straight, sweep the front porch, milk the cows,
set the chickens. If they told us Miss Gant was coming down the street,
and we were doing anything that we thought was not in order, then we would
quickly get in order because we thought, to us, she meant to do the right
thing, all the time. We tried to do that as children in the community.
We had a lot of respect for her at the school.
