The Stained Glass in St. John the Evangelist Church (Page 3 of 5)

Detail Loop Stained Glass Window Another example is the third window, which I call the "Vocation Window." In the top panel from the Old Testament you have Samuel calling David from the sheep heard to be anointed King of Israel. In the middle panel you have Christ calling the sons of Zebidee, fishermen, James and John the Evangelist. You can see their fishing nets; and He's telling them, "Come, I'll make you fishers of men." In the bottom panel you see Christ with His hands on the shoulders of a modern priest. There's a legend over the priest's head in Latin which says "Ego te elegi" which means "I have chosen you." I have chosen you to be a priest in the modern world. So that's how each of the windows is set up.
